AHD Association for Humanitarian Development conducted assessment survey among the IDPs of Malakand division and during survey find lot of problems in IDPs like safe drinking water, food, and no food items among the IDPs residing among the host communities or spontaneous camps. The IDPs needs quick and urgent support for the survival. During survey assessment AHD staff also conducted visit in Gurdawara Punja Sahib meets with the Gurdawara Committee and communities. The IDPs living in Gurdawara Punja Sahib share their problems that they are drinking unsafe water because they do not have water coolers to take water to their rooms. In this regard AHD conducted interview with other community members.

After the details meetings and conversation AHD survey team decided to provide water coolers on urgent basis to 400 families IDPs came from Swat and Bunir and formed committee to make lists of the 400 vulnerable families for the water cooler distribution.

The purpose of the water coolers distribution is to provide access to safe and clean drinking water to their women and children.

Health Center Gurdawara Punja Sahib at Hasan Ibdal

The water coolers stock arrived on 12 pm morning at Gurdawara Punja Sahib at Hasan Ibdal by AHD staff and placed at Health Center in order for the distribution in 400 families. Mr. Sanat Singh along 14 members helped AHD staff for the distribution of water coolers among families.

Distribution of 400 water coolers in 400 families:

The distribution starts at 2 pm and ends at 6 pm during a period all 400 families got the water cooler and now they have opportunity to store water for the drinking purposes at their room’s level to give safe water to their children and women and to save from Gastro and diheria diseases.

Ms. Mariam Sabir, women program coordinator conducted meetings with women group in Gurdwarda Punja Sahib, where women discussed their problems during migration from Swat and Bunir to Gurdwara Punja sahib. Some women reported the cases of Gastro and Diheria and temperature as they are living 1-2 families in one room.

Women IDPs residing in Gurdwara Punja Sahib also needs awareness on women health & hygiene in this regard Ms. Mariam Sabir women program coordinator planned to conduct awareness seminars on health & hygiene to protect them and their children from the hygienic diseases.
